5.1 Indirect Competitors

1. Zoo Negara

Zoo Negara Malaysia is managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society, a non-governmental organization established to create the first local zoo for Malaysians. Zoo Negara is now 46 years old and has matured into a well-known zoo all around the world. We have a total of over 5137 animals from 459 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish.

Zoo Negara covers 110 acres of land which is situated only 5km from the city of Kuala Lumpur. Over the years, the zoo has transformed itself to an open concept zoo with over 90% of its animals kept in spacious exhibits with landscape befitting its nature. We are working in making sure that the old zoo concept is changed entirely.

2. Pet Lovers Center

A pioneer of the pet food and accessory retailing in Singapore, PLC was founded in 1973 as a family business. The Company grew rapidly since the second generation of the family took over in 1998. In addition to more than 8 fold increase in business turnover, the quality and variety of the services offered by the Company has been enhanced. As an entrenched market leader of the pet industry, PLC enjoys more than 10 percent of the pet food market share of Singapore. At the same time, its vibrant, young management team relentlessly seeks new opportunities for filling market gaps. A case in point is the Singapore's largest shopping-complex style pet retail centre. Known as The Pet Safari, the centre, which takes up an area of more than 10,000 square feet, is fully air-conditioned, and puts under one roof some of the best retailers of live pets, veterinarian and other service providers.
